TFLAC Preserves Histories that Once Mattered — And Still Do.
What TFLAC Is
THE TRIPLE FIGHT Library and Archival Center — TFLAC — is a working primary source library and a department of THE TRIPLE FIGHT MUSEUM (TFM). It is not a proposal or a pilot. It is an institution already in operation, actively preserving, curating, and publishing materials drawn from a significant private collection assembled over more than twenty years by TFM Founder and Director Dan Perkins.
The collection spans 1890 to 1929 and comprises hundreds of newspapers, photographs, postcards, posters, and printed artifacts — materials that give evidence to critical moments in American history that have faded from public memory. TFLAC exists to ensure they do not stay lost.
TFLAC is currently digitizing and cataloging the full TFM Collection — work scheduled for completion by the end of 2027. Holdings are accessible digitally, at no charge, at tflac.triplefightmuseum.com.
What TFM Studies
THE TRIPLE FIGHT MUSEUM is a digital cultural institution focused on three categories of fights that helped shape American society from 1890 through 1929:
- F1 — FIGHTS in Rings: Boxers and Boxing
- F2 — FIGHTS Among Nations: Military and Wars
- F3 — FIGHTS for Equality and Justice: Human Rights
The TFM Collection, housed at TFLAC and accessed digitally, reflects the evolution of these three fights and their convergence. Our work begins with evidence, not ideology. We do not avoid difficult histories, nor do we reduce them to simple narratives. We invite visitors to join us in wrestling with complexity — because understanding often emerges through careful inquiry rather than easy answers.
The collection preserves the evidence.
Stories emerge from the evidence.
Meaning emerges from the stories.
From that meaning comes a deeper understanding of the challenges we continue to face today. History, therefore, becomes more than something to remember. It becomes a tool of agency and self-determination.
The TFM 6-Part Framework
TFLAC organizes its work through a six-part analytical framework that structures how each subject is studied and presented:
- Part 1 — THE TRIPLE FIGHT answers: Why does this subject belong within TFM?
- Part 2 — ABOUT answers: What physical, social, political, economic, and cultural world shaped this subject — and how did this subject, in turn, shape that world?
- Part 3 — FIGHTS IN RINGS examines competitive conflict.
- Part 4 — FIGHTS AMONG NATIONS examines military and geopolitical conflict.
- Part 5 — FIGHTS FOR EQUALITY AND JUSTICE examines civic, legal, and moral conflict.
- Part 6 — OTHER recognizes that history is interconnected and invites visitors to explore additional dimensions that enrich understanding.
The Director
TFLAC is led by Dan Perkins, Founder and Director of THE TRIPLE FIGHT MUSEUM. A graduate of the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, Perkins has spent more than twenty years assembling the private collection that forms the foundation of the Library — driven by a conviction that these materials belong not in storage, but in the world.
